Forest of Imagination and The Big Draw announced as key supporters for 2020

TEDx Bath is delighted to announce Forest of Imagination and The Big Draw as key supporters as it prepares for its next event at The Forum on 10th October 2020.

The new collaboration means that the TEDxBath audience will experience and enjoy the creative inputs of the Forest of Imagination and The Big Draw teams at this year’s event, including specially commissioned artworks, films, installations and participatory events which will include a walk-in ‘mirror maze’ by mathematician Dr Alf Coles, and a drawing event with leading artist Tania Kovats.

TEDxBath 2020 will also be hosting a TEDx Countdown event as part of the global launch of the TED Countdown initiative; an international call for communities to respond to the climate crisis.

Co-Founders of Forest of Imagination: Dr Penny Hay of House of Imagination and Bath Spa University and Andrew Grant of Grant Associates said: “Responding to the pandemic and the climate crisis has been a truly inspiring theme for our artists and designers from the Forest of Imagination team this year, and we are delighted to bring this to TEDxBath”.

Kate Mason, Director at The Big Draw, whose patrons include Sir Quentin Blake, Andrew Marr and David Hockney said: “The Big Draw welcomes this creative collaboration which is in perfect alignment with our 2020 environmental theme ‘A Climate of Change’. We look forward to being part of TEDxBath, helping to disseminate its findings, key messages and linked content through our national and international networks.”

Rhodora Baguilat, TEDxBath Lead Organiser, said: “We are delighted to be working together with the Forest of Imagination and Big Draw teams, and to be supported by their creative energy, both for TEDxBath and our TEDxCountdown event.”

This year, TEDxBath bring a COVID friendly event to a larger audience offering choice in how TEDx is enjoyed. The spacious Bath Forum will allow a physical audience to attend the venue, following instructions and regulations of the local authorities and current government guidelines. In addition, a streamed live feed offers safety and comfort from home. This digital legacy will help to put Bath on the world stage as an inclusive, independent and diverse forum for ideas.

The event is also being supported by Bath Digital Festival and Clayhill Arts.

TEDxBath aim to make a difference in our community and is gathering ideas and energy from local businesses and organisations, to showcase their commitment to sustainable development as part of the TEDx Countdown event.
